Visual Arts

Grade 1 used the paper painting process of Eric Carle to create a colourful collage using the first initial of their name.
Grade 3 looked at the art elements of line, shape and colour to create this rollercoaster name artwork.
Grade 4:
Paul Klee and his famous work 'Once emerged from the grey of night' was the inspiration for the first grade 4 artwork for this year. While not all completely finished, here are some examples of student work using characteristics of Klee's original.
Grade 5:
Grade 5 have started the year off by looking at mandalas and radial symmetry and used this in an artwork. Students folded a square of paper into eighths, wrote their name into one section, then traced their name into the remaining sections. Gradually, their designs evolved in such a way that they look more like repeating, radiating patterns as opposed to letters. Stunning!
Grade 6:
This term grade six have learned and refined their skills in pencil shading. They completed several practice exercises to improve their pencil pressure skills before transferring their learning to shade an outline of a seashell. In each photo, one of the images is a photocopy that the students have then copied across to the outline, changing their pencil pressure to create different tones.
