From the Principal's desk

I have been great to see students enjoying the nicer weather during recess and lunch times. Students are playing on the playgrounds, enjoying the courts and ovals. There is also some amazing pretend play happening in the sensory garden out the front.
With the weather becoming colder, especially in the mornings, students are wearing their jackets and then removing them during the day. Please make sure that jackets are labelled with a name, we have a large collection of jackets without a name.
School Captains, House Captains, Values Leaders and Junior School Councillors:
We were so proud of our leaders last Friday when we presented them with their Leadership Badges at a special assembly. We know you will represent the school well and follow our Values; Learning, Caring and Proud at all times. There was a great feature article in the Numurkah Leader on Wednesday this week.
School Council 2026
Call for nominations and election timeline:
We would encourage all parents to consider nominating for School Council. It is a great opportunity to learn about how the school operates, and how you can be part of decisions made for the benefit of all students across Numurkah Primary School.
In 2026 we have 5 parent vacancies on the NPS School Council. Nomination forms are available at the office for parents to collect and are due back by 4pm Wednesday the 11th March. There are two types of nomination forms:
- Self-nomination form
- Nomination by another parent
At the close of nominations, a list of nominations will be posted at the office and listed in the newsletter. If we have more nominations than positions, an election will be called and the ballot will take place on Friday the 13th March. Please feel free to contact the office and speak to me if you have any questions about school council.
Easter Raffle
Tickets for the Easter raffle will be sent home to families next week. If any families need another book of tickets, please call into the office. There will be a prize for the class who has the most donations. All donations need to be dropped to the office by the 27th of March, with the raffle being drawn on the 2nd of April.
NAPLAN
Our Year 3 and 5 students will participate in the 2026 NAPLAN testing between March 11th and 23rd. All tests will be online apart from the Year 3 Writing which will be paper based. Students will have time during class to participate in practice sessions and complete NAPLAN style questions. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child's classroom teacher.
Parents and Friends:
We would like to engage as many families as possible and invite all members of the family to be a part of our Parents and Friends committee. We understand that some families can't make meetings during the school day, however, there are many ways you can be a part and support our school. If you would like to help our school, please give the office a call to discuss ways you could help out.
School Uniform:
I would like to remind students and families of our uniform policy. All students need to be present at school in full school uniform. I have attached the uniform policy to the end of the newsletter. We want all students to wear our uniform with pride. Green school bucket hats must be worn outside during term 1, please purchase your child a new hat if they have lost or misplaced theirs.
