2/3 Steiner

From Lucy
We have been getting in rhythm and routine which has been really nice. Our mornings are busy with morning circle, phonics, run around, fruit snacks and then Main Lesson. We have been continuing our main lesson on Irish Fairy Tales and have heard some wonderful stories which the children have used as inspiration to write their own narratives. We have been looking at features of narratives like structure and developing characters.
In Maths we have been looking at place value and renaming numbers, using paddle pop sticks to assist our understanding and use this understanding to aid in addition and subtraction.
Fridays with Antoinette
The children are settling into a Friday morning routine. We go to the library and then to STEM in the morning. Sessions three and four will generally be craft and a writing and drawing task based on what the children have been exploring in the garden/cooking.
The last session of the day will generally be out in the garden tending to our new garden bed.
On occasions we will also be cooking in the art room sessions three and four. In week two we made pizza using yeast to prove the dough. Thank you to Djuna’s mum and Annika’s mum for supporting the children to make the pizzas.
This Friday (week 4) we made vegetable fried rice. The students really enjoyed chopping the vegetables into tiny pieces. We used our sprouted micro greens to add a bit of crunch to our rice.
