你 好 (ni hao) Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 families,

What a fantastic week of learning in Year 2!

In Guided Inquiry, students explored the city of Darwin and learned about the differences between the wet and dry seasons in northern Australia. We discussed how the weather changes, what happens in each season, and how this impacts the environment. The students were particularly interested in the dramatic storms of the wet season!

In Writing, we have been creating persuasive texts about which animal would make the best pet. Students practised using persuasive language techniques such as strong adjectives and exaggeration to convince their readers. We loved seeing sentences designed to really grab attention and persuade the audience!

In Maths, we have been working on reading analogue clocks. Students practised telling the time to the hour, half hour, quarter past and quarter to. We are encouraging them to keep noticing and reading clocks in everyday life to build their confidence.

It has been such a great week in Year 2 and the students have been working so hard! Have a great weekend!
