Grade 5/6

What a great couple of weeks we have had in 5/6! 

We finished off Quality Beginnings and got straight into our learning, we are super impressed with how excited the students were to start learning. 

Numeracy

During Numeracy, we have been learning all about numbers. We have starting learning about Big Idea 1 'The set of real numbers in infinite and each real number can be associated with a unique point on the number line.'

Numeracy looks a bit different for the grade 5's this year, but it has been incredible watching them give it their best go while working on their tasks. We are also so proud of the grade 6's and how they are showing they are great role models and helping the grade 5's when things seem a bit challenging. 

Literacy

In Literacy, we have started our unit on our mentor text 'Rivet Boy', throughout this unit, students will be connecting the text to their own lifes, the world and other texts. We have also been learning about the conjunctions; because, but and so and when to use each of them.

In the coming weeks, the 5/6s will start planning and drafting their persuasive pieces that will be all about child labour. We are excited to read what they create!

Integrated Studies

In Integrated Studies, this term out topic is 'The Journey to Discovery'. So far, we have learnt about all of the 'accidental discoveries' from the past. Ask your kids what their favourite has been, there have been some pretty amazing ones!
