Year 9 & 10 Update: Off to a Flying Start!
It has been an incredible start to the 2026 school year. Walking through the corridors, there is a palpable sense of energy and focus as our Year 9 and 10 students settle into their new routines. Whether it’s tackling more complex elective subjects or stepping up as middle-school leaders, the cohort has hit the ground running with impressive maturity.
Whole School Assembly
Last week marked a special milestone as the entire school gathered together for the first time in 2026. The atmosphere was one of unity and school pride. A particular highlight was the beautiful rendition of our National Anthem, performed by Sophie Buckingham alongside our Music Captain, Matilda. Their talent set a sophisticated and moving tone for the year ahead. Our student leaders were inducted into their roles, and I look forward to celebrating the following students in their roles throughout 2026:

Success is in the Diary
A quick reminder about the importance of the student diary. Every student is expected to carry theirs daily. In an age of digital distractions, these diaries remain an essential tool for students in all year levels. It is the expectation of the college that students will:
record in their diary any work to be completed. This may include preparation for upcoming lessons or assessments, regular homework or unfinished classwork.
organise the coming week by the completion of home room each Monday
have their diary checked by their home room teacher each Monday
have their diary at every lesson.
CONNECT & CHALLENGE
Our signature CONNECT and CHALLENGE programs are already in full swing, providing students with opportunities that extend far beyond the traditional classroom walls.
Our Year 9 CONNECT students have already commenced their first round of off-site excursions. These experiences are designed to build independence and real-world problem-solving skills, and it’s been fantastic to see them engaging so positively with the community. On Wednesdays you might notice the aroma of fresh coffee wafting through the school. Sporting their aprons our student baristas are to thank as these students are honing their hospitality skills and providing a much-needed mid-week boost to staff.
Year 10 Academic Highlights
The Year 10 cohort recently completed a significant Common Assessment Task (CAT) that blended analytical skill with artistic flair. Students were tasked with writing creative reflections on music, exploring how sound emotion. Well done to all students on their first major milestone of the semester.
Information Nights
A huge thank you to the many families who attended our respective Year Level Information Nights. It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces. All presentation slides and essential details have been uploaded to Compass for you to review at your convenience. We encourage parents to check in with their child’s diary weekly to help them stay on top of their busy schedules.
School for Student Leadership
Five of our students are currently living at the Don Valley Campus of the School for Student Leadership. They departed Melbourne over the weekend and will now live at the school for the next for nine weeks. Daniel, Lotte, Jasper, Freya and Adam are living, learning and working in a very close-knit environment with their peers from across Victoria throughout all of Term 1.
