Term 1

In Physical Education this year, all students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be taught by Mr Coon, Mr So and Mr Russell, as well as the classroom teachers. During the first half of this term, sport lessons are focussing on Newcombe Ball and Volleyball. Students will also continue practising their Fundamental Movement Skills.

This week the students continued practising throwing and catching with a tennis ball, with the older students practising throwing it up high as well as overarm with a partner. Students continued refining their skills with a paddle bat, progressing through the levels of increasing difficulty, with the older students volleying the ball with a partner. Students also practised throwing and catching a volleyball, with the younger students catching it with two hands and the older students performing volleyball skills including setting and digging. Students finished their lesson with a game of Newcombe Ball, working on tactics such as spreading out across the court and finding gaps in which to land the ball.

Students continued practising the routines, making sure to be at the steps of the half basketball court at the start of their lesson, with their hat and a full drink bottle.
