TERM 2 WRAP

As Term 2 comes to a close, we would like to thank our students, staff, and wider school community for another fantastic term in the College Resource Library. Throughout the term, students have embraced reading, creativity, research, and learning through a wide range of library programs and events.

Highlights included Education Week celebrations, National Simultaneous Storytime, engaging non-fiction research projects across our Primary Communities, and the continued success of our lunchtime library clubs. We were also delighted to welcome families into the library during the term for tours, open nights and information nights. It has been wonderful to share such a loved and appreciated space in the school, with our community.

A special thank you goes to our Library Monitors - Ashala, Milla and Aylah, whose enthusiasm and dedication have helped keep our library running smoothly throughout the term.

As we look ahead to Term 3, excitement is already building for Booktacular Book Week 2026. We can't wait to celebrate another wonderful week of books, authors, creativity, and literacy with our school community.

LIBRARY CREATORS CLUB

Students across P-12 enjoyed the latest Creators Club craft in the library this week, making their very own mini satchel bag.

LIBRARY MONITORS: STUDENTS SHAPING THEIR LIBRARY

When people think of school libraries, they often think of books. However, one of the most valuable things a library can offer is the opportunity for students to belong, contribute, and lead.

Our Library Monitors play an important role in the daily life of our College Library. From assisting with displays and shelving to supporting events, helping younger students, and maintaining welcoming spaces, they are active contributors to our library community. Through these experiences, students develop confidence, responsibility, teamwork, communication, and organisational skills that extend well beyond the library walls.

Research continues to show that well-supported school libraries contribute positively to student learning, literacy, wellbeing, and school connectedness. Libraries are often described as one of the few spaces in a school where students of different ages, interests, and abilities can come together, explore their passions, and feel a sense of belonging (ALIA, 2026)

Programs such as Library Monitors give students genuine ownership of their school environment. They help shape the culture of the library while developing leadership skills in a meaningful and authentic way. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, initiative, and dedication our library leaders bring to the library each day.

TERM 2 STAR READER

Every term, the Library staff recognise a Star Reader, an individual who exceeds expectations in their reading journey. Big congratulations to our Term 2 winner, Jackson B (Year 2). Jackson has excellent commitment in reading and continual responsible borrowing. He has displayed initiative with completing Library Book reviews for his classmates. Thanks for your efforts this term Jackson!⭐
