Shine the Light

Year 2
The Year 2s have been learning how to make text to self connections using the text My Place. Students have been responding to the text by making personal connections to the setting, characters and events. Each day we look at a different time in the same location. This has also allowed us to make connections to our History Unit Our local History as this text is all about the history of one specific place too!
Year 3
We read about the festival of Diwali this week and learnt about the history of Diwali - The Rama and Sita story. We then had a go at retelling the story during Writing. We learnt that people light diyas (oil lamps) on Diwali as a sign of light triumphing over darkness and good triumphing over evil. In the story of Rama and Sita people lit diyas to guide the couple home after Rama saved his wife Sita from an evil demon king.
Year 4
This week, Year 4 headed to Phillip Island for School Camp, and the fun we had was endless! From the Giant Swing to Low Ropes to Bushwalking, there were so many exciting activities to enjoy. Throughout the three days, students demonstrated teamwork, resilience, and a willingness to challenge themselves while creating lifelong memories with their peers. As a cohort, we are incredibly thankful for our time at Phillip Island Adventure Resort and to Mr Murphy for organising such a fun-filled and memorable first camp experience!'
Year 5
In our Inquiry Design unit we have been learning about the potato famine and lots of other information about Australia's history. We split in half with the other class and did fun sports, painting and made Mr potato heads all with potatoes. It was a lot of fun and we all enjoyed it.
Year 6
In Year 6 we are creating Word Chains based on our growing knowledge of morphemes. In this example, we have used 'port' meaning 'to carry' and added affixes to amend its meaning with words such as export, transported, deporting and importer.
