Year 11 Report

Term 2 continues to be very busy for all Year 11 students as we rapidly approach the end of Semester One, and with that the end of Unit One subjects.

VCE students will finish their Unit One SACs next week to allow time for exam revision in class during Week 7, with the first exam (English) on Friday the 5th of June. The Unit One exam timetable was distributed to students last week, and copies were emailed home to families. We appreciate parents and carers taking the time to read the exam timetable and information around attendance expectations during exams, so that our Year 11 students are well supported through their first major exam period.

VM students are also busy finishing off assessments and projects, with a community focus in many of their subjects. Last week, we had the students from the Koo Wee Rup Preschool visit so that our VM students could read their storybooks that they wrote in Literacy to them. It was great to see our Year 11 students interacting so positively with these younger children. The VM cohort will continue this focus on interacting with different parts of the community on Thursday 28th May, when they present their own careers expo to the Year 5 and 6 students of St. John’s Primary School. In Personal Development Skills, the VM students have been looking at the Koo Wee Rup community as a whole, redesigning our town to include necessary facilities and creating models of this.

In our assemblies this week, we reminded students of uniform expectations now that the weather is getting colder. We appreciate the support given from home to ensure that students are coming to school in full, correct uniform. If any families need support with obtaining uniform, please contact us at school so that we can look at ways to help you.

We also took the time in assemblies this week to recognise students who have been demonstrating our College value of respect by being active listeners in the classroom. Teachers nominated students who have consistently displayed this necessary skill, and it was pleasing to have so many students receive awards.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns that you would like to raise to do with your Year 11 child, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
