A Sizzling Success: Celebratory Sausage Sizzle & Slushy Day!

What an amazing day we had at our Celebratory Sausage Sizzle and Slushy Day on Monday! The sausages were sizzling hot, the slushies were icy cold—a perfect combination for a fun-filled school event.

A massive thank you goes out to our incredible PFC helpers who cooked and served over 800 sausages, and to Darren and Rachel from Slushed Out for dishing out more than 530 delicious slushies! Your hard work made this event a fantastic experience for everyone.

Despite preparing over 800 sausages, we slightly underestimated the enthusiastic demand for seconds. We managed to serve all of the Grade 6s & 5s, then the 4s & 3s, but unfortunately, we ran out before the F-2s could have seconds. Apologies to those who missed out—we’ll aim to do better next time! Note to self: 1,000 sausages might be the magic number for future events. Fun fact: that’s nearly double what we’d typically cook at an election BBQ across the entire day!

This was our first attempt at a whole-school event that was entirely free and without preorders, so it was a bit of an experiment. Thanks to all the parent helpers who pitched in—it was great to see some new faces joining the team. We hope you enjoyed being part of the fun and experienced how rewarding these events can be.

A special shoutout to the teachers for managing any post-slushy sugar highs in the afternoon. (Sorry, not sorry!)

Looking Ahead to 2025

We’re already planning next year’s calendar of events, which needs to be approved by the school council in February. Some ideas on the table include a trivia night for parents and an evening disco for the older kids. If you’ve ever organized a trivia night or have ideas for after-hours events, we’d love to hear from you!

We’re always looking for more hands to help make these events memorable for our kids. Whether it’s sending preformatted emails for donations, bundling gifts, creating decorations, or simply brainstorming new ideas, every little bit helps! Fresh perspectives ensure our events stay exciting and engaging year after year.
