Surf Trip 2024.
Last week, our Year 10 PASS students embarked on an unforgettable three-day adventure to Sydney. Based at the picturesque Land's Edge in Chowder Bay, they immersed themselves in a variety of water activities.
Upon arrival, students were divided into three groups to experience different water activities. The stand-up paddleboarders enjoyed the calm waters of Chowder Bay, honing their balance and paddling skills through exciting games and races. Kayakers explored the serene bay, taking in stunning coastal views. Snorkelers, despite slightly less clear water due to recent rain, were rewarded with sightings of diverse marine life, including fish, stingrays, seahorses, sea urchins and sea hares. After a day of aquatic fun, students settled into their accommodation and enjoyed a delicious pizza dinner followed by an engaging trivia night.
The second day saw students experiencing the remaining water activities they hadn't tried on Day One. In the afternoon, the excitement reached new heights as the group headed to the iconic Manly Beach for surf lessons. Divided into two groups, students learned to surf and bodyboard under the guidance of experienced instructors from the Manly Surf School. Despite some challenging conditions, all students successfully rode waves, creating lasting memories. The day concluded with a memorable dinner in Circular Quay, taking in the stunning views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
On the final day, students had their second surf lesson, further refining their skills before returning to Wagga on Friday afternoon.
The Year 10 PASS students demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm throughout the trip. Their positive attitude and willingness to try new things made the experience truly unforgettable. We are incredibly proud of their efforts.
A special thanks to the staff who attended, Mr Hunt, Ms Harris, Ms Samuelson and Mr Human.
