Assessment and Reporting

As we continue into the midpoint of Term 4, you may hear reports back from the classroom that your child may be completing assessments or tests. Assessment is a crucial part of the teaching and learning process, not only to gauge student understandings and achievement but to also adapt learning tasks to address the individual needs of students. Assessment can come in many different forms; it can be as simple as checklist recorded on a post-it note and as formal as a standardised test administered on a laptop. Having a range of these ongoing assessment tasks allows our teachers to gain a full picture of your child's learning and then in-turn effectively communicate it back to parents via our Semester Reports.

Schools also use these assessment periods to track the growth and achievement of cohort groups and to assess the impact of learning programs. Pleasingly, our recent assessments have indicated that our newly established phonics programs (Little Learners Love Literacy and Sound Waves) and our involvement in the Primary Maths Specialist Initiative are having positive impacts o our students. I look forward to sharing the growth displayed by our students once the data is finalised.

Antisocial Behaviour

It seems that a negative consequence of the improved weather and longer days is that it coincides with an uptick of antisocial behaviour on our school grounds during the weekends. Although both the police and our private security have been helpful in deterring these individuals, please be vigilant if you happen to be using our grounds. If you do happen to notice antisocial behaviour on our grounds (consumption of alcohol, motorised vehicles, accessing roofs etc), please contact the police directly on 000.
