Year 5 Gould League Excursion

As an end to our sustainability unit students attended the Gould Leage Centre. Students became familiar with the natural resources used to make common single-use items and discovered that such resources are limited and need to be used wisely. Students determined if a range of single-use items can be recycled or if the materials/production of the items can be changed to make a more sustainable product. They also looked into food waste, new options for food waste, and why burning waste i.e. waste to energy is not a smart option, especially if we are to provide resources for future generations.

Year 6 Graduation

On Tuesday night, the Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony took place to celebrate the students' primary school journey. The students all dressed to impress and enjoyed walking the red carpet into the gym, packed with family, friends and staff.

Federal Member for Holt Cassandra Fernando was a special guest on the night and gave a speech and presented the Holt Leadership Award for the first time. She also helped present the Student of the Year and Academic Excellence Awards.

Our school leaders, Mrs Lough, Mrs Harrington, Mr Flanagan, Ms Jewell and Miss Gladwell were all on hand to help present a range of awards and graduation certificates to students.

To finish of the ceremony, the students sang this year’s graduation song and what a performance they gave! After weeks of practising, all the time and effort paid off. At the conclusion of the ceremony students could celebrate with family and friends and take lots of photos before the student only after party began where students danced the night and made memories with the photo booth.

Overall, the night was a fantastic way to end the year! Thanks again to all the staff who helped make the night possible, especially the grade 6 teachers, Mrs Muller, Mrs Lord, Ms Derek, Mr Apps and Miss Gladwell.
