Classroom Reports
F/1A - Foundation and Year 1A
This week, in our classroom, we welcome the 2025 Foundation students as part of our Transition program. In Literacy, we have started investigating information text on animals and comparing these text types with narratives. We have learnt lots of facts about redback spiders! Our interest in spiders resulted from a rather large huntsmen spider visiting us. Although its stay was short lived, we developed some data on possible names. This data will be collated into graphs and used in our unit on Statistics and Probability. Name suggestions are more than welcomed. Please send them in.

Year 2
Hello Grade 2 families.
We are about halfway through Term 4, and it is great to see students drawing upon their skills and knowledge from across the year.
In Maths, students have been learning to add collections of coins and work out change. They have also looked at our Australian notes, including who and why certain faces are on them. If you need any change counted at home they will be up for the challenge!
Students have been developing their skills in expressing their opinions backed up by reasons and examples and applying this to their persuasive writing. We have just finished reading an excellent class novel called “The 27th Annual African Hippopotamus Race” and have now started reading “George’s Marvellous Medicine” by Roald Dahl. The grandma character seems pretty mean so far!
In Inquiry, we are continuing our investigation of simple machines, looking at how levers work.

Exciting Days at Camp Billabong Ranch
Our Year 3 students recently embarked on an unforgettable camp adventure at Billabong Ranch! Nestled in nature’s beauty, the ranch offered a range of exciting outdoor activities that challenged everyone and brought new experiences.
One highlight was camel riding! Students took turns riding these unique, gentle animals, laughing, and balancing as they rocked along on a short trail. For many, it was their first time ever riding a camel, and it quickly became a favourite memory.
Horse trail riding was also a hit, as students learned to handle the horses and ride confidently along a scenic path.
Campers also tested their aim with archery, learning to draw and release the bow while trying to hit targets. Mini golf provided a fun challenge with twists, turns, and obstacles that had everyone cheering each other on. The bouldering wall offered a climbing challenge that was both thrilling and required concentration, as students tried to complete set tasks, developing both strength and determination.
Orienteering gave students a taste of adventure and problem-solving as they worked in teams to navigate the course using maps and compasses. This teamwork activity allowed students to learn new skills while exploring the area, adding an element of discovery to their day.
Each evening, everyone gathered to talk about the day's adventures, share laughs, and look forward to the next day. By the end of the camp, students had tried new things, grown in confidence, and made memories that will last for years.

Year 5 & 6
This week we are learning about Physical Science and the four main components: Earth Science, Physics, Astronomy and Chemistry. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on experiences, whilst learning about chemical science.
Over the next month we have lots of events happening from transition to excursions, so keep an eye on compass and your child's diary for information. Just a reminder that homework is a weekly expectation and needs to be returned by Friday.
Have a great week.

Work Experience
On Monday the 21st of October I started a week long work experience at the Maryborough Police Station. Whilst I was there, I got to see how the police officers interact with the public when they come into the station, and I answered phone calls. I was lucky enough to see how they test and handle drugs. The crime lab detectives also dropped by and dusted for someone’s fingerprints, that was linked to a new investigation. They also had me put my hand on a piece of paper and then they dusted for my fingerprints.
Overall, it was an amazing experience, and I encourage others who want to pursue becoming a police officer to do the work experience.
