Caleb Fanolua - Rubgy Champion!

I just want to speak on behalf of myself about my rugby journey outside school this year and the honour of representing Dandenong High School at a state level. I wish to show my gratitude and appreciation towards Dandenong this year and the opportunity to represent Victorian schools rugby as Captain. This team was made up of many talented players across Victoria, the best of the best. Every player had to still be in school at the time, and I was fortunate enough to make the team. I was humbly selected as Captain this year and was truly grateful for the experience of leading such a great group of young men to the Australian school competition in Sunshine Coast.

Although we didn’t succeed in winning the competition, coming 7th out of 10 teams, it was truly a great experience and one I will never forget. What I’m trying to convey is that I am truly grateful and honoured to have represented Dandenong High School at this competition. I also had the privilege of winning the Sugarman-McLean award for best team player for Victoria. Honoured and grateful, I was truly blessed to receive this award on behalf of Dandenong High School.

My journey this year continued with playing at state level again for the Melbourne Rebels, where we took on many different states. I was able to represent my club and my school. As someone who is graduating this year, I have truly enjoyed representing Dandenong High School at a state level and will strive to follow my dream later in life.

Year 8 Boys Table Tennis Southern Metro Finals

On Friday 1st November, Dandenong HS competed in the Southern Metro Region Year 8 Table Tennis Finals at the GDTTA stadium at Oasis in Dandenong.

After winning the Greater Dandenong competition in August, our team (Isaaq B08, Laviinnanthan E08, Sayed E08, & Bhavesh E08) knew they were in for a tough contest.

8 Teams were divided into 2 pools of 4 and our Pool B consisted of McKinnon SC, Cranbourne East SC and Liebler Yavnah College.

The first match of the day was a rude awakening as to how tough the competition would be. McKinnon had some highly skilled players and the scoreline showed just that. McSC 6 def DHS 0.

We played Cranbourne East SC in our second game and in a close fought match they prevailed 4 - 2.

Our last game against Liebler Yavnah demonstrated how strong the competition was with DHS going down 6 - 0.

Despite results not favouring our boys, they can be commended for the way in which they fought hard for every point, never conceding at any time.

Well done and congratulations on reaching the Southern Metro Finals.
