Year 7 Mini Golf PBL!

In Term 4, Year 7 students across the Houses complete a Project-Based Learning task across both their Maths and Science classes, called ‘Hole in One’.

This PBL task provides students the opportunity to learn and demonstrate their understanding of simple machines and forces in Science and Geometry and Probability in Maths. Initially we took the students on an excursion to Wetlands Adventure Mini Golf to provide students with an opportunity to understand what mini golf is and how it functions in real life. Back at school, they then started to work in a team to plan, build and present a Mini Golf hole that uses simple machines and geometry, and in their presentations, they describe how these aspects of learning are incorporated in their model.

These pictures demonstrate how Year 7 students in Callistemon House interpreted this project. Students demonstrated high creativity, engagement, teamwork and pride in their work at the end of the project and we as their teachers are very proud of everything they achieved this term.

Well done to the Year 7 students in all the Houses for a fantastic term of work!
