Principal's Views

As we reach the end of Week 7 today, there are only 4 weeks left of the school year in 2024. There are many exciting things happening around the school in these final weeks of term.

Remembrance Day – Leaders Speech and minute silence

Last week we acknowledged Remembrance Day with a minute silence and flags at half-mast. Our student leaders prepared a speech and delivered this over the PA system at 11am.

“Good morning, everyone. Today is Remembrance Day. This is a special day when we take time to remember all the brave people who have helped keep our country safe and free. Some of these people served as soldiers, nurses, and helpers in times of war, while others worked to bring peace in times of need.

We remember their bravery and the sacrifices they made, often being away from their families and sometimes giving their lives. Because of them, we have the freedom to live, learn, and play in peace.

Today, as we take a moment of silence, let’s think about their courage and be thankful for all they have done.

Let’s also remember that we can honour them by being kind, helpful, and working together to make the world a better place.”

2025 Student Leaders

We are well underway with our process to elect our 2025 student leaders. Students prepare a speech and a panel assess their personal and leadership qualities and the ability to live our EVPS values of caring, honesty, respect, excellence and responsibility.

We have been very impressed with the preparation of speeches to take on the roles of:

  • School Captain
  • School Vice Captain
  • House Captain
  • SWPBS Leader
  • Sustainability Leader

We look forward to announcing our 2025 student leaders to our community at our final assembly on Monday December 16th 2024.

We have recently updated our Child Safety Code of Conduct and Student Dress Code Policy in line with revised Department guidelines. Please find the links below.

Yesterday our 2025 preps received a showbag with many exciting things inside.

Sporting Achievements

We have had a number of sporting achievements to celebrate over the last few weeks. You can see a jam-packed sports report later on in this newsletter. We are very excited that our Boys Tennis Team has made it through to the State Tennis Finals for the 2nd year in a row and will compete at the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club on Tuesday 26th November.

Our Year 1, 2 and 5 Swimming Programs are continuing each week with great success. It is great to watch our students build their swimming and water safety skills.
