Student Sporting Achievements
Congratulations to Madeline and Matthew in Year 6 who recently represented COHR and the entire District at the Regional Athletics. Understandably the competition at this level is tough and both students achieved great personal results. Matthew came second in the Long Jump will now go on to the State competition! Well done!
Makayla in Year 6 is also to be congratulated on becoming a State Champion in Rhythmic Gymnastics - a mighty effort!
We are all very proud of these great achievements by our senior students.

Only 2 weeks until the Fete! Have you signed up to help us out? It would be amazing if every family could give 2 hours of their time volunteering at the stalls. Follow the link to choose your stall and your time.

Ride Wristbands are now able to be ordered for the Early Bird price of $40. To buy them on the night will be $45, so you may want to order them for your friends who you have invited to come along. You can pay on CDF pay or cash at the School Office.
Our Silent Raffle prizes will be open for bids next week, look out for the Flexischools. An amazing selection of items that are sure to appeal to many. Thanks so much to the sponsors who have donated the items. We really appreciate your support.
Our Fete Committee has worked exceptionally hard to enable this key fund raiser and community gathering event to take place, especially Sarah Arnott who has bought all her wisdom of previous fetes to ably lead the team of volunteers. We are very grateful to Sarah for all that she has done so far.
As the official meetings are finished and we now move into the final preparations, over the next two weeks and indeed at the Fete itself please support their efforts by giving of your effort to make the COHR 2024 Fete a spectacular success!
Prep 2025!
Over the past few weeks Jo has been meeting up with the 2025 Prep children and their parents. It has been an absolute delight. On Wednesday evening we held our Prep Parent Information Night and over the next few weeks the new Preps will come for their own transition sessions. A very exciting time for all these families.
As well as our transition sessions, we are continuing to offer our Pre-school times which are open to all pre-schoolers. These are an opportunity for families to come and visit COHR and meet some teachers and have some fun!
Pre-school Art Time - Tuesday 26th November @ 9am & Pre-school Music Time - Thursday 28th November @ 9am.
Our last Open Day for the year will be Wednesday 13th November. If you know of anyone interested in investigating enrolling their child for 2025 (all levels) or 2026, please let them know that they can organise a tour and a chat with Jo on any day to suit them, just give the Office a call.
2025 Classes
At this time of year we are making many preparations for next year. Teachers have commenced the process of organising classes for 2025, they take a broad and balanced view when considering the needs of all students. It is our intention, as always, to provide well-balanced class groupings. To achieve this we take into consideration the academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs of all students. Teachers will draw on their collective knowledge of the students and expertise to arrange the classes. Individual parent requests compromise this process and inevitably inhibit our capacity to deliver balanced classes. We ask parents to consider how difficult the task of arranging balanced classes would be if we were to act on all parent preferences. Therefore We ask parents to refrain from sending requests about student placement to classroom teachers.
To best support students in their learning and provide optimal social interaction we will be looping some students (students have the same teacher for two years) while others will change classes. Requests by parents to have their child/children placed with certain teachers is certainly not something we consider based on personal preference. If you still feel there is a need to have an issue discussed, please make a time to speak with Jo or Brian before Friday 16th November. Once finalised it will be extremely difficult to make changes to these groupings.
COHR Student Leadership
Over the coming weeks our Year 5s will be embarking on our Leadershop program, which will culminate in our appointment of the School Leaders for 2025. This is a fantastic part of our Year5s journey to their last year of Primary School.
The leadership skills of our COHR students doesn't stop there! Former COHR student Sophie Brewer, has been elected as the Avila College Co-Captain for 2025. She will be joined by COHR alumnae Sienna Bernardo (Sports Captain) and Ruby Bird (Nagle House Captain) in the Student Leadership Team. Congratulations to them all. We are so proud of your achivement and we wish you all the best in 2025.
School Closure Days
A reminder that our next school closure days will be held on:
- Monday 4th November (the day before Melbourne Cup)
- Tuesday 5th November (Melbourne Cup)
- Monday 2nd December (Staff Professional Development Day)
All the key dates for the rest of the year are listed on the calendar page of this newsletter, please take note as there are many things happening that you will not want to miss out on!
As you are aware I came to COHR to be the Lead Principal for the 2024 year. After my year at COHR, I am writing to share that I will be moving on to a new role as Principal at St. Andrew’s in Clayton South at the end of this year. This decision brings both excitement for new opportunities and a deep sense of gratitude and thanks for my experiences with the wonderful people in the COHR community.
We still do not have clarity on the role of principal at COHR for 2025, but are expecting an update soon. We will keep you informed when we know further.
Hopefully you can find time to enjoy the lovely Spring weather,
Regards,
Brian Martin (Lead Principal) &
Jo Cowan (Deputy Principal)
