Monday 11 November

On Monday 11 November, Year 5 is travelling to the Museum of Old & New Art (MONA) as a provocation for their final Inquiry, ‘How we express ourselves’. Students will explore the central idea, “Creative thinking unlocks a world of possibilities” as they look at different elements and purposes of art, consider perspective and react to different artworks. Students will leave school at 10am and travel to MONA by bus, returning at approximately 3.10pm. Full sports uniform is required to be worn, as well as a hat, water bottle, morning tea and lunch.

In order to facilitate smaller groups of students exploring the museum with a supervising adult, parent helpers would be appreciated. Our volunteers will require a current Working With Vulnerable People card. You will also need to complete a volunteer form at this link. Please email your class teacher if you are able to assist.  Parent helpers would need to meet us at MONA.

Year 6 Places of Worship Excursions

Monday 11 and Friday 15 November

To extend and deepen our inquiry into Who we are: beliefs and values, Year 6 will walk to the Hobart Synagogue and St David’s Cathedral on Monday 11 November, and to the Hobart Mosque and St Mary’s Cathedral on Friday 14 November. Students will participate in tours of each venue and have opportunities to ask questions about history, beliefs and practices. During the following week members of the Hobart Sikh and Buddhist communities will be visiting us at school to provide students with an insight into these faiths as well.

Students are required to wear full sports uniform and bring a packed lunch, snack, water bottle and hat. Please apply adequate sunscreen before school and pack a raincoat as required.  If a parent would like to support this excursion, please contact your child’s teacher. Our volunteers will require a current Working With Vulnerable People card. You will also need to fill in a volunteer form at this link.
