Prep's Firefighter Visit:

On Wednesday last week andthis week, we had two visits from our local firefighters. The first session had us practice Stop, Drop, Roll and Cover and to know what to say when we call 000.

In session 2 we had an exciting time, we got to climb onto the fire truck and we got to spray the hose in the pop up park. We watched all the water get sucked up from the hydrant and spray out everywhere. Thankyou to ourfire fighter hero's at Footscray Fire department for being so patient with our many many questions.

Year 1/2 Werribee Zoo Excursion

Last week the yr 1/2s went on a fun filled excursion to Werribee Zoo. Students took part in a workshop about habitats, features & life cycles. They become wild explorers for the session, learning about what makes animals special and how they can care for animals and their homes. They engaged their senses as they explored their surroundings and learnt more the life of wallabies. Rangers Mel & Michael also taught the students about the importance of how to respect and care for animals & how animals grow and change. They even got to look closer at some of the unique features and needs of various animal species and even some eggs. As always, a highlight of the Werribee Zoo was the safari bus, but it was made even more exciting when we were able to see the newest addition to the rhino family. Jabulani is the newest baby southern white rhino that can now been seen at the Zoo. He was super adorable & only 3 weeks old, yet he already looked larger than some of us! Exploring the remainder of the zoo with our wonderful parent helpers was such an enjoyable experience. We were able to see so many animals, from the cute little meerkats, to the sleeping koalas, & enormous hippos to finally seeing the gorillas. Although some of us thought maybe one gorilla was angry (because he never faced us), it was cute to see him hide behind a tree - like he was playing hide & seek. We thank all our parent helpers again!
