Music
Music students have been very busy performing all over Geelong during the last two weeks, with our Spring Concert, VET Music performance exams, and at the Geelong Show all in one week!
Spring Concert
Last Wednesday, the music department, their family and friends, packed out the Geelong West Town Hall, putting together a wonderful celebration of music and student achievements. All large ensembles performed, and students who had made a great contribution to their groups throughout the year were recognized.
We said goodbye to our Year 12 cohort:
Benny Perry, Hari Davis, Abbie Burton, Heechan Hwang, Abigail Hodge McAvaney and Chris McKenzie, and wish them all the best as they step out into the next stage of their futures.
The Spring Concert event is one that brings our music community together, and many parents, families and friends gave generously of their time, expertise and artistic talents to make decorations, prepare and sell food, and support the musical efforts of their children.
Thanks to Pat Consedine for sound, for Tara Logan for taking yet another set of fabulous photos of the event, to our Roadie team for set up and pack down.
Thanks to the music staff for their incredibly hard work to make this event such a success for our students, to our principal team for their support of the program, and most of all to the students who make events like this such a joy to be involved in!
Geelong Show
Last Thursday Intermediate and Beginning Band performed in the school bands festival at the Royal Geelong Show.
Both groups performed very well, entertaining the crowds with a great program.
Students then had a chance to enjoy all the show had to offer, with lots of ice cream, showbags and rides to keep everyone busy.
A big thank you to Amanda Linton and Emma Moffatt for making this event happen for our students, only a day after the Spring Concert!
Year 6 Music Program
50 year 6 students will start their musical journey next week, when the Year 6 music program begins. This program is a great way for students to meet each other and make some friends while learning an instrument. The program will run for the next six weeks, and finish with a concert showcasing student achievements
Ensemble CAT
All ensemble program students will complete their Ensemble CAT over the next few weeks, and will present their performances at the Ensemble night on the 12th November in the PAC. All family and friends are invited to come along and enjoy the variety of groups that have been working together to prepare for this performance.
Re enrolment forms for students continuing lessons in 2025 are available on Compass. Please complete one of these to help us with our 2025 planning.
Instrumental music lessons will end in the last week of November, and we ask that all instruments be returned if students are not continuing, to allow time for cleaning and maintenance.
