Carols Night

Our Christmas Carol's night is quickly approaching. The Carols will be held on Thursday 28 November.

POTS will be having a sausage sizzle, with cold drinks and icy poles available to purchase also.

Look out for a note with all the details being sent home next week.

Before School Formal Supervision

Formal supervision of students before school begins at 8:00am in Camilleri Park (near the hall). Please remind your child/ren that playing near the classrooms is not allowed before school.

PACER Rebate

In Week 3, students in Year 6 undertook an education tour of the national capital. Students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government contributed funding of $900 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate was taken into account when calculating the camp fees and will be paid directly to the school now that the excursion has been completed.

Devotion

Jesus once said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’ (Acts 20:35). I am reminded of a story by author and motivational speaker Dan Clark which illustrates this point. He writes,

"Once, when I was a teenager, my father and I were standing in line to buy tickets for the circus. Finally, there was only one family between us and the ticket counter. There were eight children, all probably under the age of 12. You could tell they didn't have a lot of money…

The ticket lady asked the father how many tickets he wanted. He proudly responded, "Eight children's tickets and two adult tickets please." The ticket lady quoted the price. The father leaned a little closer and asked, "How much did you say?" The ticket lady again quoted the price. The man didn't have enough money.

Seeing what was going on, my dad put his hand in his pocket, pulled out a $20 note and dropped it on the ground. (We were not wealthy in any sense of the word!) My father reached down, picked up the note, tapped the man on the shoulder and said, "Excuse me, sir, this fell out of your pocket." The man knew what was going on….

He looked straight into my dad's eyes, took my dad's hand in both of his, and squeezed tightly, "Thank you, thank you, sir. This really means a lot to me and my family." My father and I went back to our car and drove home. We didn't go to the circus that night, but we didn't go without."

The story is one of generosity shown to a stranger and the blessing it brings. Christians believe in a God like that too, who sees our spiritual shortcomings and sends Jesus to pay the price for us. I pray that he would continue to be generous to you, and inspire your generosity to others.

From the Principal

Werte,

This week we have so many reasons to be proud of the Living Waters students, most of all we are proud of the SRC who represented us at the Remembrance Day service on Anzac Hill and then ran a second-hand toy stall today to raise money for the Telstra booster for the hospital.

On Remembrance Day feedback from serving members and the general community was that the children read beautifully and were great ambassadors for our school. Mr Ramzy was on hand to help the flag party, as a past cadet.

The second-hand toy sale was well supported and the SRC worked well together for a great sale. They raised $479.25!

Our swim team were also complimented on their sportsmanship and manners at the Interschool Swimming Carnival.  Great job to those who pushed themselves out of their comfort zone and into their challenge zone.

Our upper primary children have completed their swimming block, and we were proud of the progress made. We are looking forward to Week 8 when our F-2 students start their swimming block.

Blessings,

Mrs Goldsworthy
