Primary Eastern Metropolitan Regional Athletics Carnival
On Thursday 24 October, 5 Primary students represented MECS at the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Athletics Carnival. This is the event that precedes the state championships.
Our competing students were:
Jake B in High Jump
Sammi S in Long Jump
Billy T in Shot Put
Mark B 800m
Kyrin D 800m
While our students didn't make it through to state level, we should be incredibly proud as a community of their determination, competitive spirit and the way that they cheered and celebrated students from all other schools in our region.
It is pleasing to see their gifts shine through on such a big stage and we look forward to seeing them competing against the best again in 2025.

CSEN Junior Rally Day Cage Soccer
On Monday 21 October, we took a Junior Girls and Junior Boys team to compete against other Christian Schools as part of the CSEN Junior Rally Day in Cage Soccer.
The sun was shining brightly, and although a little warm, the conditions were perfect for a great competition. Both our MECS teams were one teammate down due to illness, which proved to be more challenging as other schools had full teams, and extra subs. This did not dampen the spirits or courage of our MECS students, competing in over 8 games throughout the tournament.
Our Junior Boys Team competed in the finals and won their game. Our Junior Girls team fought hard in their final, however were beaten by a stronger team on the day.
Our students displayed wonderful sportsmanship throughout the day, as did the other competing schools. Two schools lent our girls team one of their players for two of the games, to even up the numbers. A special shout out to Year 10 students, Cadel B and River K, who came along to assist as referees for the tournament. A wonderful day and we were so proud of the students’ efforts in warm conditions.

CSEN Year 7 & 8 Mixed Netball
Our Year 7 and 8 mixed netball teams played with vigour and determination on Monday 21 October. They represented MECS and played against some CSEN schools. It was fantastic to see the way they worked in their teams, rotated their positions and encouraged one another.
Both teams won their games to make it to the finals. Our division 1 team came first and our division 2 team came second. It was a fabulous day, not only because of their achievements but also because of their positive attitudes and comaraderie.

CSEN Badminton
When we first walked in we were a bit nervous about competing. Everyone looked like they were professionals. After the first game we realised how nice everyone was and it was purely fun. We loved every second of the day even though we were aching by the time it finished. Although we didn’t win it was an amazing experience and we would definitely do it again. A fun part of the day was the bus ride home, Mrs Nyhouse got us some slurpees and played some music (we were the best singers even if it probably just sounded like screaming). We were so grateful that we got the chance to represent MECS at the badminton tournament.

On Monday 28 October, two teams from Years 9 & 10 attended the CSEN Rally Day competing in Cage Soccer at the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna.
Our boys' and girls' teams competed against a range of Christian schools in a day-long tournament. Both teams displayed exceptional courage and sportsmanship throughout, proudly representing their school with integrity and determination.
