We were very fortunate to have a wonderful day at the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens a couple of weeks ago. We participated in an education program called ‘Share Country,’ where we deepened our understanding and respect for First Peoples' culture. We learned about various tools created by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as well as their uses. It was fantastic to hear the ideas different students had about the items and their applications.
Afterwards, we enjoyed participating in small group activities around the gardens. We learned that by rubbing ochre and water against a hard stone, it creates ochre paint. This was the traditional form of paint used within Victoria, as opposed to dot paintings, which are more commonly seen.
We also had the chance to explore the native garden to see, smell, and taste different flowers and plants. There was even native lemon myrtle tea to try!
We have completed our learning about time, focusing on how to read and use both digital and analogue clocks. Everyone enjoyed the hands-on activities, especially creating their own analogue clocks and using the ICT board to represent and read different times.
Tuesday, November 12th, is our next soccer clinic. We would be grateful for the children to come to school wearing their sports uniform.
We also hope to see many of you at the whole school family Mass on Saturday, November 16th.
Kind Regards,
Nicole
