2024 RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS LETTER EXCHANGE
As part of the Random Acts of Kindness Letter Exchange program, we have spent time over the past couple of weeks learning all about writing letters.
Our class has been matched up with other classes - some here in Victoria and others in Queensland, New South Wales, Tasmania and Western Australia.
Each student planned, drafted and published a letter about themselves and our school.
All our letters also included a random act of kindness to share with our matched classes. Over the weekend our letters were posted.
We are really looking forward to receiving the letters that have been written to us.
We will be hanging them on our friendship tree and opening them during December.
CRANBOURNE BOTANIC GARDENS EXCURSION
We were very lucky to have an amazing day at the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens a couple of weeks ago. We participated in an Education Program called ‘Share Country’ where we built our understanding and respect for First Peoples culture.
During the activities we learnt about the importance of the environment to the Bunurong People and their connection to Country. We got to see how plants can be used in many ways, such as for fibre, medicine, tools and food.
Here are some of the comments students shared about our day out;
Enry - “The flowers were really interesting because there were different ones and different colours. I liked our inquiry, especially painting with ochre.”
Philippa - “I learnt that you can drink and eat lemon myrtle leaves. My favourite part was painting with rocks and ochre.”
Xavier - “I couldn't believe we could make tea out of lemon myrtle leaves. I really liked that we saw trees from the dinosaur age.”
Sebastian - “The gardens had a lot of plants. Bees were around lots of the flowers. I liked the lemon myrtle tea because it tasted ok. I enjoyed listening to the indigenous ladies tell us about how the kids helped to hunt for ducks.”
Neive - “We saw flowers and drank lemon myrtle tea. My favourite part was making paint because we used it to make handprints and signs.”
Valentina, Jonathan and Charlie also shared some writing about our excursion.
