LOOK WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING IN AUSLAN AT MPHPS

Hello everyone,

We had another great week in the Auslan classroom. It’s so good to see students practising the signs they have learnt and being enthusiastic about their learning.

SIGNS OF THE WEEK

Don’t forget to ask your child to show you some of the AUSLAN signs they have been learning. The signs of the week are: ‘nationality,’ ‘favourites,’ & ‘name.’

IN THE CLASSROOM

Years 3  Students have been learning words related to parts of the weather in Auslan.

Year 4 – Students have been revising signs related time in Auslan.

Year 5 – Students have learning about Auslan artists and they have created a simple presentation using Auslan in art  form.

Year 6 – Students have been revising signs related to descriptive words in Auslan.

Not all deaf people know sign language - 90% of people who are born deaf are born into hearing families and many of them aren't given the opportunity to learn sign language growing up. Everyone is different, some may decide they don't want to learn sign language, and others may be trying to learn later on in life.
