What's Been Happening in Year 2

Last week the Grade 2s went to the Animal Land Children’s Farm in

Diggers Rest. We had so much fun and we learned a lot.

We each got to milk cows named Lucy and Amber. The milk was very

warm and the utters felt like marshmallows. Then, we used the milk to

make butter in a churner. Later, we enjoyed the butter we made on fresh

crackers—it was delicious!

We also got to ride ponies named Snowflake and Goldie! Our instructor

helped guide the ponies so we wouldn’t fall off. For some of us, it was

our first time riding a pony. It felt wobbly and high up, but most

importantly, it was so much fun!

We loved holding and petting baby animals, like bunnies, chickens, and

guinea pigs. Their fur was super soft, but their teeth and claws were a

little sharp. Some of the baby animals were so calm that they fell asleep

in our laps! They were so cute that we wanted to take them home!

Lastly, we visited the greenhouse full of fruits and vegetables. We

planted pea seeds in newspaper pots filled with soil and took them home

to watch them grow, hoping for some yummy peas to eat.

We saw lots of ducks, fed different animals, and even went on a tractor

ride! We all had an amazing time and hope we can visit the farm again!

What's Been Happening in Year 3

In Year 3, we have been learning about fractions. We have learnt to represent fractions in different ways including shapes and collections. We have also learnt how to represent fractions on a number line. This week, we created a fraction wall to represent halves, quarters, thirds and fifths. Once we created the fraction wall we were able to compare the size of fractions.

Would you prefer half or a quarter of a chocolate bar? Why?

Victorian State Athletics Championships Success

This past Wednesday, two of our superstar athletes proudly represented Our Lady's at the prestigious Victorian State Athletics Championships. Nana from 6A competed in the 100m, showcasing his incredible speed and dedication, while Josephine from 5A took on both the 800m and 1500m, displaying her remarkable endurance and commitment to her sport.

We couldn’t be prouder of Nana and Josephine for their hard work and outstanding performances. Competing at this level is no easy feat, and their determination and training have truly paid off. Well done to both athletes for their fantastic achievements!

With this event, we conclude our School Sports Victoria Athletics Competitions for the year. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of our athletes and to everyone who supported them along the way. Let’s aim to make next year even bigger and better as we look forward to our District events in swimming, cross country, and athletics.

Congratulations again, and a big thank you from Mr. Whitty and Mrs. Herd!
