In the Catholic Church, November is a special month where we take the opportunity to look back on those who have left us with thanks and love as we prepare for the 'New Year'.
For the Church, this 'NEW YEAR' begins on the first Sunday of ADVENT to prepare ourselves for the coming of Jesus into our world; also known as Christmas.
When looking back on this Liturgical year, we say a special prayer to our loved ones to let them know we think about them, we remember them and we celebrate their life with us. This also includes our service men and women who we remember on November the 11th as part of Remembrance Day.
We pray together..
Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace.
Amen.
In this week's Gospel, Jesus talks to his disciples about the importance of giving what you have to something. In this instance when offering coin, the rich put in some of what they had to make people happy whereas the woman put in all she had in the offering. Do you put in all you have in what you can do? Effort in a task? Kindness to another? Dedication to a goal? Challenge yourself this fortnight and put in a little more in what you do to show your motivation and dedication.
May God bless you and keep you,
Mr Angelo Iacopino
