Grade 2

Wow, what a busy start to Term 4 Grade 2 has had! We kicked things off with swimming lessons in Week 1, and what a splash it was! Everyone had an amazing time learning about water safety and building on their swimming skills.

It was fantastic to see the students’ growth in both confidence and skill as the week went on. From mastering new strokes to practising safe water habits, every swimmer made great progress. A special highlight was the picnic lunch at the park after our lessons, giving us the chance to relax and enjoy the sunshine together.

Week 2 was packed with excitement for Grade 2! We had an amazing time visiting the Kyabram Fauna Park, where we explored all kinds of Australian native animals. During our education session, we learned about different habitats and even got to examine x-rays and moulds of animal skulls. We touched feathers, eggs, and animal skins, which gave us a real feel for the wildlife we were learning about. One of the highlights was getting up close to a kangaroo – and yes, we even got to pat it!

After our adventure at the park, it was back to school for some after-school fun, including 10-pin bowling, an egg-and-spoon race, and playing with the parachute. Then, it was time to refuel with pizza and ice cream before saying goodbye to our Grade 1 friends.

The excitement didn’t end there! We rolled out our sleeping bags and set up for our Grade 2 sleepover. After a few short movies, everyone settled down for a well-earned sleep. It was so wonderful to see everyone helping each other and showing kindness through two big days of fun and learning. We were so proud of the way the students looked after one another and worked as a team.

Now, we’re busy planning our concert item and can’t wait to show off what we’ve been working on. With so much already behind us, we are excited to see what else we can achieve in Term 4!

Grade 1 Pout Pout Fish

The grade 1 students have been focusing on creating 3D forms when constructing their pout pout fish. Using magiclay, they followed instructions to put their fish together. Once dry, they painted with acrylic paint. Lastly, students used acrylic paint pens to decorate with a range of lines, spots and shapes. They will be displayed in the foyer so check them out!

Grade 2 Bubbling Cauldrons

The grade 2 students began a fun artwork this week of a bubbling cauldron just in time for Halloween next week. They listened to a story, A Witch’s Brew for Me and You, then drew and cut out their cauldron. We used cardboard rolls to dip into black acrylic paint to make our bubbles. We discussed how overlapping the circles will make the bubbles look realistic. Next week, students will use watercolours to paint their bubbles in bright fun colours.
