From the Year 3 Classroom
Reading -
We are continuing our literature study on Matilda by Roald Dahl. Students have been focusing on thinking within the text by listing any new vocabulary and thinking beyond the text by making deeper text connections. We have been having deep discussions about the text in small groups, learning how to be active listeners and connecting to what our peers say. We will continue to use Matilda to practice and grow our comprehension strategies over the next few weeks.
Writing-
Students are in the process of writing their own narratives. We have been focusing on writing ‘Sizzling Starts,’ to hook the reader and a ‘Tightening Tension,’ to keep the reader interested. This week will ‘Introduce students to writing ‘Epic Ending,’ to give a great finish to their narrative.
Mathematics-
This week students will complete some testing during Mathematics. These tests will cover what we have learnt throughout the year. Students will also continue working through Chance and Data activities (which they have thoroughly enjoyed)
Inquiry-
This week we continue researching famous world explorations and what life was like in 19th Century England. This will lead to learning about convict life on the First Fleet.
Religion-
We are continuing our focus on God’s Creation and will be exploring ways we can care for the environment.
Congratulations to our Multiplication Masters Evie, Sienna and Darcy
