From the Year 2 Classroom
A very well earned short week for everyone this week, however we can't believe it's week 5 and we are now half way through the last Term. The children are trying very hard to focus their standards and behaviours up to a Year 3 Level!!
Over the coarse of the next 2 weeks we will be focusing on:
Reading and Writing- Stamina.......How well can we hold our attention and concentration for when reading and writing. We will be looking at summarising after reading so that we understand what we have read. The children are busy publishing some sequel writing and next we will be focussing on writing problems in a realistic narrative and re-writing known stories and changing some main ideas.
In Maths we are continuing revision on the 4 operations. Next week we are changing focus to measurement where we are learning about volume, capacity and mass.
The children are really enjoying our experiments in inquiry where they are learning about states of matter. In the next few weeks they will start making presentations on these experiments and what they have learnt, concentrating on scientific terms.
As it is nearing the last part of the Term the children just need a few reminders about bringing and wearing their hats and also returning their Library books on Tuesdays.
A big congratulations to the last weeks award recipients!
