From the Year 1 Classroom
Hello Grade 1 Families,
It was nice to have a long weekend and reset for the rest of the year, which is always very busy! The weather is warming up and the children need to make sure that they have a hat and a water bottle at school.
In Literacy, we are wrapping up our unit where we have celebrated Julia Donaldson as an amazing author. We have loved exploring her books and learning from her as we have written our own awesome narratives. We look forward to our next area of focus for Literacy, which will be on the genre of Procedure, which is always fun.
In Maths, we are revising lots of the learning that we have done throughout the year and going over concepts that we feel we need to hit again, along with challenging students with their learning.
In Religion, we have loved learning about the Creation Story and are finishing off this topic by making posters about how we can look after the beautiful world that God created for us. The children were divine at Mass on Friday and looked so cute! We think they really made the parishioners' day with the dress-ups and the way they participated in the Mass.
In Inquiry, we have loved getting out and about in our community looking at Natural and Built Features. A highlight has been our walk to the lake and our excursion on the Cumberoona. How lucky we are to have these facilities at our doorstep.
We can’t believe that we are already looking at the theme of Christmas for our learning. How did that happen? Please keep an eye on the school’s Facebook page and notifications on SIMON for important dates/events etc.
Thanks and take care,
Sarah, Mik, Kristy, Michelle and Karen
