From the Year 5 Classroom

We hope you all had a wonderful extended weekend and that your child is rejuvenated and ready for the final six busy weeks of Year 5.

The Year 5 students have appreciated the opportunity to meet next year's Prep students during their recent visits to various Kindergartens. Buddy assignments will be made next week, and due to the large number of Year 5 students and the gender distribution, some students will be paired with two buddies, while others will be partnered with a fellow Year 5 student.

On November 7th, Year 5 students will participate in our Mercy Value Day. They will engage in six workshops, each aligned with our Mercy Values, where they will explore the significance of these values and their connection to Sacred Heart. This day is important in preparing students as they advance to Year 6. We encourage students to select a Mercy Value they wish to be a part of, and as part of this process, they will prepare and present a speech in the coming weeks.

The ASPIRE Leadership Day is scheduled for Monday 11th. This engaging and interactive full-day workshop will include three sessions and will incorporate a learning, action, and reflection process. This structure will allow students to reflect on their own leadership qualities as well as those of their peers in terms of teamwork. Students are requested to wear their PE uniform for the day.

On Monday, the 18th, we will walk to Victoria Park to participate in a friendly Kanga cricket competition against students from P-12.

We would like to extend our congratulations to the Year 5 girls, Tippi Simmons, Lily Leslie, and Edie Thomson for representing our school at the State Athletics on Wednesday in the 4x100 metre relay. We are pleased to share that the girls successfully advanced to the final. A brilliant effort!
