Senior Music Concert
Final Notes: Celebrating Our Year 12 Instrumental Music Students
The Senior Music Concert last week was a celebration of the efforts of all our senior instrumental music students this year. It showcased all the hard work and time they have invested to maintain Northcote High School’s proud music program while developing their own music skills. The concert was also an opportunity to farewell our year 12 Instrumental Music students and to thank them for their participation over the last six years.
Jackie Brogan, Head of Performing Arts, had a special message for our Year 12s:
"You are the students that stuck with it. Eventually, after two years in lockdown, you were finally able to return to camps, competitions, travelling to the Nationals in Newcastle, cancelled flights, long bus trips to Generations in Jazz in Mt. Gambier, sleeping on the floor of primary schools. [You] have performed in musicals at school, for Arts Shows at Federation Square, and on Merri Park for whole school assemblies. A month ago, some of [you] flew to China and became celebrities when they performed at our sister school in Huaibei.
Thank you for your resilience, your dedication to music and for your support of each other. You are all role models to the students in the Instrumental Music program who follow in your footsteps. You have shown that even when things don’t go quite the way we would want them to, that music can be a fun and joyous path to take. I know that the friends you have made in the Instrumental Music program are the friends that will be there for you on your next wonderful journey. Keep creating, playing and loving your music and thanks for being a part of the Instrumental Music program for six massive years. All the best for the future".
