Year 12 Graduation

Guest speaker Oliver Gordon addresses the class of 2024

Celebrating the Class of 2024

The school said goodbye to the class of 2024 with style at Flemington on Thursday night. With over 300 students in attendance, the night was a celebration of their school journey and achievements, with prizes given for subject excellence and contributions to the many aspects of school life. Our guest speaker Oliver Gordon, class of 2008, now a journalist with the ABC, left students with a profound message of resilience and adaptability.

The school captains had some inspiring departing words, as they reflected on their time at the school:

School is one of the few times in our lives where we get to make memories on those big trips and camps, with all of our friends. School is one of the few times in our lives where we are all part of one big community. So, here’s to us, here’s to our teachers, here’s to our parents and guardians, and here’s to the next chapter of our beautiful, wonderful lives. ~Alex Qu

From our incredible sports teams, who’ve celebrated countless victories over the years, to our school musical, which has dazzled us with performances year after year… Moments like Year 7 camp, our formal, and Celebration Day have given us cherished memories to look back on when we think of our time at Northcote High. ~Yasmin Elsakawy

To our class of 2024 students, thank you for being our community and supporting us through tough times—whether it was exam stress, homesickness, or the struggles of growing up. You showed us what it means to have a supportive community that is always here despite being far away from our family. ~Anh Quan Nguyen

Everyone in this room has their own path, some of us will look to university, others to gap years, apprenticeships or maybe joining the workforce. The next year is taking shape uniquely for every single person here. The class of 2024 will be able to venture towards other countries, learning languages and opening new opportunities.~Thea Niall

Thank you to Paul Micah Sullivan and Emily Cummings for all their work on organising the event and we wish our students all the very best for the exams and as they embark on their next journey.
