Public Speaking Competition

'A team effort' from Grade 6 students

Recently, we had the privilege of hosting the Year 6 Public Speaking Competition that took place in our school theatre. On Thursday 17 October, Year 6s from Alphington Primary School, Bell Primary School, Carlton North Primary School, Fitzroy North Primary School and Northcote Primary School participated in the competition and talked on the topic, “a team effort”. They had a variety of ideas, and they all performed extremely well. Taking up the challenge of judging was Mr Tucker, April Emmett (8E) and Freya Griffiths (8E) who decided the three students who really stood out were: 

1st Heidi McMillian - Alphington PS 

2nd Maya Allen - Alphington PS 

3rd Asher Hotham - Bell PS 

During the breaks in speeches, there was an abundance of entertainment provided by the NHS students involved and all the visiting students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the event. A special thank you to Ms Balis for organising the whole event successfully and assisting with the technological aspect of it all.
