A message from Stage 2
Stage 2 have had a busy start to the term! Congratulations to all the students involved in New England Sings, and thank you to parents and carers for taking their child/ren to the weekend performance.
S2 classes have been completing a book study on Sadako and The Thousand Paper Cranes and focusing on 'context'. The themes in the book have been inspiring, yet incredibly sad.
Students have been learning how to identify subordinating conjunctions, and independent and dependent clauses in complex sentences. They have been experimenting with identifying and writing cause and effect complex sentences.
Students have also been learning about how to write a historical recount, and over the next few weeks, they will be creating their own historical recount of Sadako.
Stage 2 maths groups have been learning about fractions and decimals. Students have been appropriately challenged with this learning and it has been lovely to see students embracing the challenges that come with learning about fractions and decimals, and also lovely to see students demonstrating a growth mindset while learning about these concepts.
Students have been learning about 'Changes in State: liquids, solids and gases.' There have been some interesting discussions taking place in classrooms while completing hands-on experiments to observe liquids and solids changing states.
Students have been enjoying drama, art and music lessons this term and the recent weather has been optimal for PE and sport lessons. Well done to the students who have been consistently sun safe and bring their hat to school each day.
Stage 2 and 3 Recognition Assembly showcasing learning on Thursday 14 November from 12:15 pm in the school hall. We hope to see you there!
