Long Course Meet- 27th October 2024

Only 2 more sleeps until our next major meet! We can't wait to see all of our swimmers there.
Join our Whatsapp group to receive updates on the day about races, raffles and the BBQ.
Meet Roster
As you can imagine, running a meet of this size will require all hands on deck! Please keep an eye your emails to see where you've been rostered on to help. Please be aware a parent/guardian of all participating RSC swimmers will be rostered on for timekeeping duty. We know it can be difficult for families to juggle weekend activities, however we simply can't host a meet of this size without your help.
Never done timekeeping before? No problem! It's easy and you will be together with another parent. Instructions will be provided on what to on the day. Timekeeping is the best seat in the house and you will be provided with snacks and refreshments by our catering team throughout the meet! Please bring your own water bottle, which can be refilled by a volunteer if needed.
We are running 10 lanes and each lane needs 2 timekeepers in order for the times to be official. We have asked other clubs attending to cover some of the lanes, but RSC will have to cover the majority of them.
For Session #1: We have enough swimmers attending to allow for 3 shifts of just over 1.5 hours each.
For Session #2: We only have enough parents in attendance for 1 shift of about 2.5 hours.
We don’t have any back ups to fill the timekeeping slots so it’s really important that everyone attends for their timekeeping shift. If there is a reason that you can’t attend, please let me know as soon as possible so we can try to make other arrangements.
Thank you to everyone who has responded that they can do their shift, who have been highlighted in green. If you haven't replied, please do so asap! The roster is below:

Meet Information
You can access the meet program, session report and athlete roster on our website: Events for October 2024
A few tips:
- Arrive early to get a parking spot. The meet is quite large and Learn to Swim lessons will also be on so parking will be at a premium!
- Unless you are helping with the meet, please sit in the stands rather than on pool deck near the swimmers. Coaches will be available to help your swimmer with marshalling etc. Parents lingering on pool deck create congestion and make it difficult for our check starter and officials to do their job. Swimmers will all sit together on the cement steps, opposite the grandstand, with the coaches.
- Make sure your swimmers bring plenty of water and healthy snacks to have throughout the meet to keep hydrated and energized. The morning session is almost 5 hours so swimmers will need to be prepared!
- Help your swimmer to write their event information on their arm with a sharpie before arriving at the meet so they have the information available and know what events, heats and lanes they are in and can show a coach if necessary. Example: you have booked your child to swim in the following events:
- Event 2, 50m Freestyle
- Event 8, 50m Backstroke
- Even 12, 50m Breaststroke
Go to the meet program for your session (#1 for swimmers 12/U and #2 for swimmers 13/O), look up these events, find your child’s name and write down the following information: Event, Heat and Lane.
It will look something like this…
50 Free E2 H3 L4
50 Back E8 H2 L1
50 Breast E12 H1 L6 ⇐ This what you can choose to write on arm.
**If you’ve never done this before your swimmer can ask one of the more senior swimmers to help them or a coach!

Uniforms
Swimmers should arrive in club uniform, as advertised in our new uniform expectations. Please do not arrive in non-club hoodies, or polos. If you don't have an RSC hoodie, please wear your RSC polo over a black hoodie. Black track pants or shorts can be worn on the bottom.
Swimmers are also expected to compete in their purple caps, not their silver or black caps.
Selina, our Uniforms Officer, will be in the clubroom on Sunday from 7am if you need to purchase any items. Please come early as she will be busy with other duties as soon as the meet starts!
Best of luck to all swimmers!
