At Cranbourne East Secondary College, we have always believed that learning goes beyond the classroom. Our commitment to excellence in education, wellbeing and success, has opened doors for countless students, leading them on exciting career and study pathways. The lasting impact our school has had on students, fills us with pride. From former students returning to teach and join our fantastic staff network, to former students joining our vibrant alumni program to maintain connection and remain part of our vibrant school community.
The Cranbourne East Secondary College Alumni Community, is designed to strengthen the bond between past and present students, creating opportunities for continued connection and collaboration across generations.
What Is the Alumni Community?
The Cranbourne East Secondary College Alumni Community, is all about celebrating and connecting our past students with current students. With a rich network spanning various skillsets, industries and professions, the program aims to support our current students by leveraging the experiences, knowledge, and success stories of those who have come before them. Those who have walked the same school corridors and school grounds. Whether it is through social media, classroom sessions, school events, newsletters, or other channels, we’re creating a space for alumni (former students) to stay connected and involved, to share their achievements and success stories, and to give back to their school community.
Meet Riannah Mayus – Alumni Community Coordinator.
We’re thrilled to introduce Riannah, our new Alumni Community Coordinator. With her passion for connection, community and engagement, she is excited to be part of building our alumni network. What is the School Wide Positive Behaviour Framework?
SWPBS (School-wide Positive Behaviour Support) is an evidence-based framework designed to help schools create positive, safe, and fair settings where students and teachers can thrive. It focuses on teaching and encouraging positive behaviour, supporting all students, and providing extra help to those who need it. By doing this, SWPBS helps improve behaviour, wellbeing, and academic success.
It also supports teachers by giving them strategies to manage classrooms effectively, reduce disruptions, and spend more time on teaching and learning.
Schools implementing SWPBS:
Why is Cranbourne East Introducing a School Wide Positive Behaviour Framework?
Cranbourne East Secondary College has a range of tiered supports and interventions that are evidence-based practices. This includes an Instructional Model, Positive Education Model, Positive Learning Behaviours, Values, Positive Behaviour Recognition, whole staff Berry Street Education Model training, and developing House Culture. The intention of SWPBS is to utilise the training and framework to bring these elements together and redevelop an outdated Behaviour Model.
Cranbourne East Secondary College underwent a review in 2023, which yielded clear directions, goals and actions for work in improving the engagement and wellbeing of all students.
Key improvement strategies identified were:
• Develop and embed a whole school strategy to enhance student agency in learning and wellbeing.
• Enhance multi–tiered structures and supports to strengthen inclusive learning and wellbeing practices.
• Develop and embed a whole school positive education and engagement framework.
• Enhance staff capacity to meet the social, emotional and wellbeing needs of all students.
Work has already commenced on these key improvement strategies and Cranbourne East Secondary College is behind utilising the SWPBS framework to bring the great work that is already happening. This includes refining initiatives, and embedding a common language, to provide the pro-active school-wide systems of supporting, defining and teaching appropriate student behaviours to create improved and sustainable positive learning environments.
How is this going to be introduced?
Firstly, the College has introduced the Five Positive Learning Behaviours. We will be using our Five Positive Learning Behaviours to set high expectations that are clear and consistent between learners and educators. The Five Positive Learning Behaviours will be directly linked to our College’s reporting cycle.
Secondly, the College has already introduced STRIVE Journals for 2025. They have been allocated to year 7 to 9, allowing for the opportunity for L4S and P2S teachers to facilitate the roll out of the diaries. Students may use the journals to track the following:
As the implementation of the Schoolwide Positive Behaviour Framework continues more positive changes will be communicated.
