Assistant Principals

As we return to 2025 and enter Week 5, it is a great time to reflect on our school’s theme: Aim High, Achieve More. This principle reminds us that success is built on high expectations, commitment to excellence, and the small, consistent habits that lead to bigger accomplishments. Every day is an opportunity for growth, and it's these small actions that make a lasting difference.

At Oakleigh Grammar, we are blessed to be part of a supportive and vibrant community—our students, staff, and families work together to create an environment focused on growth and achievement. It’s this sense of shared purpose that makes our school truly special.

Aligned with our values of HARK—humility, aspiration, respect, and kindness—we know that "the smallest things can make the greatest difference." It's the attention to detail, the intentional actions, and the positive choices we make that shape students' success.

Uniform and grooming may seem small, but they set the tone for the day. When students take pride in their appearance, it reflects responsibility and readiness to succeed.

Being prepared and organised is also essential. Having the necessary materials—textbooks, devices, and stationery—sets students up to engage and excel in each lesson.

Punctuality is equally important. Arriving on time builds responsibility and ensures students make the most of their learning opportunities.

Encouraging students to set individual goals helps them stay focused and motivated. Whether academic, social, or personal, setting clear goals enables students to track their progress and celebrate their growth.

Finally, seeking support and advice is key to success. Encouraging students to reach out for guidance shows strength and helps them move forward with confidence.

As we move through 2025, let us continue to Aim High, Achieve More by focusing on the small habits that drive success.

Here is to a year of growth and achievement!

Academic Excellence: A Shared Commitment

As we begin another exciting year at Oakleigh Grammar, we do so with a shared vision—one of ambition, growth and excellence. Academic success isn’t just about natural ability; it’s about developing a mindset that values hard work, perseverance, and a genuine passion for learning.

At the heart of academic excellence is mindset. When students believe that their abilities can grow through dedication and effort, they gain the confidence to tackle challenges head-on. A growth mindset turns setbacks into stepping stones, helping students build resilience and a deep sense of achievement.

But mindset alone isn’t enough. High expectations—from both students and teachers—play a vital role. Research shows that when young people are challenged in a supportive environment, they thrive. Excellence isn’t about competing with others; it’s about striving to be the best version of oneself.

Academic excellence is also about working together. Learning is not something we do in isolation—it’s a shared experience. Teachers guide and inspire, students encourage and challenge one another, and families provide the support that makes all the difference. Whether it’s a thoughtful classroom discussion, a collaborative study session, or simply a word of encouragement, we all contribute to a culture where curiosity and critical thinking flourish.

This year, I encourage every student to take charge of their learning, to embrace challenges, and to aim high. Parents, your involvement is invaluable—your support and encouragement will help your children reach their full potential. And to our dedicated teachers, thank you for your unwavering commitment to guiding and inspiring our students every day.

Together, let’s make this a year filled with purpose, progress, and a passion for learning.

Aim high, Achieve more.
