PRAYER

O Christ Jesus,

when all is darkness and we feel

our weakness and helplessness,

give us the sense of Your presence,

Your love, and Your strength.

Help us to have perfect trust in

Your protecting love and strengthening power,

so that nothing may frighten or worry us,

for living close to You,

we shall see Your hand,

Your purpose,

Your will through all things.

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Friends,

Now in Week 3, it is wonderful to see our students continuing to build meaningful relationships with each other. The interactions they share with their friends create a warm and nurturing environment. The new students have settled in well and are seen to express a sense of belonging to the St Philip’s community.

This year, we continue our focus on Vision for Instruction. With all classes now fully engaged in learning, the two hours that we dedicate to learning in English every day enables all students to receive explicit instruction in essential literacy skills, including: language and reading comprehension; phonological awareness; fluency; vocabulary; spelling; grammar, and; writing. By focusing on these key areas, we are equipping our students with strong foundational literacy skills that will support their learning across all subjects.

This week we changed the way the students enter the corridor in the morning. Students in Prep to grade 2 enter through the door opposite the Hall, the students in grades three to six use the middle doors. The reason for the change is to ease congestion in the corridor.

Family Picnic

The Family Picnic is planned for next Thursday, 20 February from 5.30 – 7.30pm, on the school oval. This evening is always a joyous occasion for our community to gather, while parents and friends chat and children play. Families are invited to bring their own dinner/snack. Please note that this is a Child Safe event so alcohol is not permitted.

School Assembly

Everyone is welcome to attend our weekly assembly at 9.00am on Friday and to stay for coffee afterwards.

Warmest Regards.
