Level One

Swimming
This week, our Level One students are attending swimming lessons! It has been a fantastic opportunity for them to build confidence in the water while learning essential water safety skills. Through fun and engaging activities, so far, they have practiced floating, kicking, and basic strokes with qualified instructors. It was a splashtastic week!
Reading
Our Level One students have been developing their reading skills by learning about visualising. They have been using nouns and adjectives to create mental images while they read, helping them better understand and engage with texts. Through fun activities, they have practiced describing and illustrating what they see in their minds, making their reading more vivid and meaningful!
Writing
Our Level One students have been learning how to write information reports in Writing! They have been exploring how to share facts about different topics while focusing on using full stops and capital letters correctly. Students have also been practicing rereading their writing to ensure it makes sense. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they become fantastic little authors!
Phonics
In Level One, students have been focusing on phonics and letter sounds. Each day, they spend an hour learning about a specific grapheme, digraph, or trigraph, helping them build strong foundational reading and writing skills. Throughout the week, they practice these sounds and apply them in their spelling and writing, reinforcing their learning in meaningful ways. It’s fantastic to see their confidence growing with sounds and words.
