Welcome to Term 1 2025! We have had a great start to the year with students settling smoothly into their new classes and learning environments, and learning the expectations of a new year level. We have welcomed 65 Prep students and many new families to our DPS community, and it has been wonderful meeting them and seeing so many new faces around.
Buildings and Grounds Update
Over the Summer break we had many buildings and grounds works completed to further enhance our beautiful school environment. These have included some paving around our gardens, new soccer nets on the oval, painting of our exterior Art room wall, new signage installation and of course the completion of our toilets, which have been a long time coming.
Classroom Learning
After completing our start up T.E.A.M.S Program over the first two weeks of term, students are now back into their classroom learning routines with the main focus on our core teaching and learning in Literacy and Numeracy. In Literacy, students in Prep - 2 have been developing their phonics knowledge, and across the school from Prep to Level 6 students have been learning and developing the reading comprehension skill of visualising. In Numeracy the focus for the first half of Term One is Place Value, a fundamental part of the Maths curriculum. Students have completed assessments in both Literacy and Numeracy to ensure the teaching and learning is targetted and meaningful.
Congratulations Bella!
I would like to cogratulate one of our students, Bella C from Level 4, who competed in the Little Athletics Eastern Metro Regional Track and Field Competition last weekend. She did an amazing job, achieving a gold medal in the 200m, silver in 400m, and bronze in the 100m event. Congratulations Bella on this oustadning achievement!
Thank you for a great start to 2025 and I look forward to working with our wonderful DPS community this year.
