Science

Mr. Simpson is very excited to be working at Doncaster PS this year. He is looking forward to getting to know each one of his students and cannot wait to see everyone thrive in the world of science and technology!
This term’s focus has been biology which is the study of living things. It helps us understand how plants, animals, and people grow, change, and live in their environments.
Prep:
We are learning to explore how different living things grow and change and how they need basics needs such as food, water, oxygen and shelter to survive.
Level 1:
We are learning to exploring different dinosaurs and explore how their external features help them to survive in their environment as well as identify what their basic needs are necessary for them to survive.
Level 2:
We are learning to dive deeper into the life cycles of different things and exploring how they grow, change and have offspring like themselves.
Level 3:
We are learning to explore how different living things are grouped into different categories based on their features that can be and how they fit into certain environments.
Level 4:
We are learning to look deeper into the life cycles of different living things and how they depend on other living things and the environment around them to survive.
Level 5:
We are learning to explore structural features and physical/behavioural adaptations that help them to survive in their environment.
Level 6:
We are learning about how animals survive in their environment but go further to understand living things can become endangered/extinct by the negative impacts of a changing environment.
