Well it’s been a great start to the term with lots of singing, dancing and exploring music.
It’s also a big year for Performing Arts as we will be staging our 2025 bi-annual School production on Thursday October 17. There will be lots of updates on this this so please stay tuned.
In the first few weeks of term we have looked at the music of some musical's greats such David Bowie, Elvis Presley and the Beatles.
We have discussed the music we like to listen to and designed rock t-shirts that will soon be on display in the school corridor.
We have also begun learning how to use Boomwhackers to make music. Boomwhackers are plastic pipes of different lengths which when hit make a musical note. This allows students to work in teams to create music. It’s loud but it’s fun!
As we settle into a new year in the Art Room, students have been developing routines, exploring new materials, and building confidence in their creative skills.
Foundation students have been learning about the art element of line, experimenting with different ways to draw and use lines in their artworks.
Our Grade 1/2 students have started their collages inspired by artist Megan Coyle, beginning with a textured newspaper background, and now carefully collaging a fruit using hand-painted paper.
Grade 3/4 students are focusing on printmaking techniques to create botanical vases, learning about registration and layering as they build up their gel prints.
Meanwhile, our Grade 5/6 students have been thinking sustainably, designing and constructing their own cardboard looms from scratch. They are now beginning to weave, using a variety of colours to create vibrant tapestries.
It has been wonderful to see students settling into the Art Room, embracing new challenges, and expressing themselves through their artwork.
