A message from the Principal Team

Hello to the Armstrong Creek School Community!

For those of you I haven’t had the chance to meet in person, I am the newest member of the Principal Class Leadership Team. The past couple of weeks have been such a great experience and I have been made to feel so welcome and valued by the students and staff of this school.

I have come to this school from the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership, where I was a Senior Policy and Project Officer in 2024. Prior to that, I was an Assistant Principal at Newcomb Secondary College for around six years.

I feel privileged and proud to be a school leader, as it enables me to work alongside inspiring and dedicated educators, as well as kind, appreciative and hard-working students. It fills me with energy to see students showing kindness and care towards one another, and I feel immense pride every time I see evidence of a student making the most of their educational opportunities.

In my life outside of work, I have three cats (which feels like 100 cats at times), a passion for traveling and a keen interest in motorcycles. I recently had an opportunity to ride a Royal Enfield motorcycle through the Himalayan mountains in Nepal, which brought my two great passions together for a wonderful, memorable and only slightly painful experience.

I am learning so much in this new role, and feel very excited to be a part of this school’s next chapter – please keep an eye out for me, and make yourself known whenever you get a chance.

Best wishes,

James Murphy

Dogs Connect Program

We are excited to announce that we are about to launch the Dogs Connect program in our school!!! This is a whole school wellbeing program which will see the introduction of a wellbeing dog in our community. Our school wellbeing dog will become a much loved and important member of our community. The Dogs Connect program will support us in implementing this very gradually, thoroughly, and considerately. At this stage we encourage anyone who would like to know more about this program to look through the website link :  https://dogsconnect.net.au

We are very excited to be introducing our wellbeing dog into our school.

Her name is Nala and she is a 12 month old Australian Cobberdog.

We have a team of staff who will lead this program. We would also like to assure the community that this program will not involve anyone who does not wish to be involved. We know that this work will have a really positive impact on many people in our community, and we acknowledge and respect that connection with our wellbeing dog will be offered on a great variety of levels.
