School Council

Wow, isn't Term 1 flying by?
As Tim mentioned in the Principal's Report, it's that time of the year that we are calling for School Council nominations. He will give you the more formal information but I wanted to provide an insight from a parent's perspective.
Being a part of School Council has allowed me to provide a strategic input into how Marlborough is run. I have received an insight into how a school is funded, and how and why decisions are made.
I have been lucky enough to work with and get to know inspired and passionate parents and staff members who care as much about MPS as I do.
For our family, it is a chance to give back to a school that has given so much to our children. Jared and Elise have benefitted so much from the unique and welcoming school community and learning environment that is MPS.
In terms of workload, it is about attending 2 meetings a term, plus putting your hand up for a sub-committee that you feel you can contribute to (Buildings & Grounds, Marketing & Promotion, Finance, Parents & Friends Association, and Governance) For most of us, this is where we can bring the skills from our day job to benefit the school.
If you have ever thought about joining School Council, I really encourage you to come along to our meeting on Tuesday 25th February at 6.30pm. (And if Tuesdays don't work for you, the new School Council will decide on the day and time that suits everyone)
Alternatively, please feel free to email me to chat about it in more detail.
Thanks
Clare Arthurs
