Principal's Report

Change of Newsletter

We are making some changes to the regularity of our school newsletter.

Starting this term, the newsletter will now be sent out fortnightly during odd weeks of the term. Additionally, we are shifting the release day to Thursday.

These changes will help streamline communication while ensuring families stay informed about important updates and events.

Office Staff

We are transitioning to a new office staffing arrangement.

Starting from Term 2, Salina will be working nine days a fortnight. Until the end of this term, Anne Eames will be assisting in the office while some of her classroom activities will be covered by Christy, who has been volunteering in our classes.

During this transition, we may not be able to complete all requests as quickly as usual, and we appreciate your patience and understanding

Curriculum Day

A reminder that Tuesday, 11th March is a Curriculum Day – students will not be required to attend school on this day.

Staff will be using the day to continue our work on School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS). We will be:

✔️Mapping out our SWPBS journey to ensure a clear and structured approach.

✔️Unpacking our new school values and embedding them into daily school life.

✔️Exploring ways to collect behavioural data across the school to help us identify and address key areas of focus.

This important work will support a positive and consistent approach to behaviour across our school, helping to create a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.

OSHC Operating on Curriculum Day

We are looking at operating Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) on our Curriculum Day – Tuesday, 11th March.

To make this service viable, we need at least 10 students booked in. If you are interested in using OSHC on this day, please book in as soon as possible.

We need to confirm numbers by Tuesday, 4th March, so we can make a final decision.

NAPLAN 2025 – Information for Grade 3 & 5 Families

Students in Grade 3 and Grade 5 will be participating in NAPLAN during the testing window from 12th March to 24th March.

NAPLAN assesses literacy and numeracy skills, including reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar, and punctuation), and mathematics. It provides a snapshot of each student’s learning on the day of testing and is just one part of the broader assessment and reporting process.

At Macedon Primary School, we use NAPLAN data to track student progress, identify areas for improvement, and inform our teaching practices to better support student learning.

If you have any concerns about your child participating in NAPLAN, please speak with your child’s teacher to discuss any questions or considerations.

Review Update

We began our school review last Thursday, and the first day was a great success!

During the session, we explored feedback from parents, staff, and students and examined the school’s data over the past four years. Our reviewers also had the opportunity to visit classrooms and speak with students about their learning, which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Due to relocation days, our review timeline has been adjusted, and our next two review days will now take place on Tuesday, 12th March, and Tuesday, 19th March.

A big thank you to all the parents who have volunteered for the parent session – we look forward to hearing your insights on 12th March.

School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI)

Led by the National Broadband Network (NBN), the School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI) is a Federal Government initiative offering free home internet to 30,000 eligible households with school-aged students.

Families and carers currently connected to the NBN network through SSBI will have their connection automatically extended with their participating internet provider until 30th June 2028.

For new families the services commence from the time the service is activated with the internet provider. Note that other household members can use the internet services provided by the initiative.

To be eligible for SSBI, families must:

  • live in a premises that can access the NBN network via a standard connection (NBN will confirm this)
  • not have had an active NBN connection during the previous 14 days.

Please note:
