Dates to Remember:

  • Friday 8th August: Prep 100 Days of School Celebration

  • Tuesday 26th August: Scienceworks Excursion

Reminders:

Mathseeds

The Year 1s have had a strong start to homework this term with 93% of the cohort completing their lesson this week. Thank you for supporting your child to complete their 1 lesson a week.

Library

Library day for all classes remains on Monday for Term 3. Students need to bring a bag to be able to borrow each week.

Year 2

Dates to Remember:

  • Thursday 7th August: TwistED Science Excursion
  • Thursday 28th August: Craftpower In-Visit

Reminders:

It has been lovely to see so many faces on our Mathseeds posters this week. This means that your child is applying their learning from school. Thank you for your support in instilling a strong homework routine for your child.

The expectation is 1 lesson of Mathseeds completed a week (Sunday - Saturday). Please remember that Sunday starts the new week.

The other homework expectation is reading 4 nights for 15 minutes. This is to be written in your child's diary and signed. Diaries should come to school every day.

Accelerated Reader Targets

This term we are challenging the Year 4's to not only meet, but exceed their Accelerated Reader Points targets. Students have set targets they will work towards but we are keen to see how many points students can achieve this term, even once they have reached their targets, to ensure they are setting goals that will challenge them moving forward. We encourage you to check in with your child to see how they are going towards their goal and to see how many points they think they will be able to achieve.

Year 5

Dates to Remember:

  • Wednesday 20th August: Immigration Museum Excursion

Reminders:

Volunteers Needed

If you would like to volunteer to support the Year 5 students on their excursion to the Immigration Museum, please email your child's class teacher.

Reading Targets

Students have conferenced with their teacher and collaborated on selecting a challenging but achievable reading volume target for Term 3. Please support your child by asking them how they are tracking. They can show you their progress on the Accelerated Reader website.

Year 6

Dates to Remember:

  • Tuesday 5th August: Scienceworks Excursion
  • Friday 5th September: IMAX/Melbourne Museum Excursion
  • TBC: SportsGala Day (Sport and Date TBC)

Reminders:

Parent Volunteers:

Reading Targets

Students have conferenced with their teacher and collaborated on selecting a challenging but achievable reading volume target for Term 3. Please support your child by asking them how they are tracking. They can show you their progress on the Accelerated Reader website. We highly encourage students to read hard copies of novels from the school or community library rather than reading short texts on devices as this will better prepare them for high school.
